By the end of 2024, Morocco recorded a historic influx of tourists with nearly 17.4 million visitors. This result far exceeds the initial forecasts, which had projected reaching this figure by 2026.

This remarkable success reflects a dynamic recovery of the sector after the pandemic and highlights the country's growing appeal to international tourists.

An effective tourism strategy

Morocco's success is attributed to an efficient tourism strategy and a well-planned anticipation of future needs. The development plan of the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social Economy, and Solidarity enabled a 20% growth compared to 2023 and even 30% compared to 2019. This achievement is credited to targeted government investments and the mobilization of industry professionals. Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor praised this exceptional performance.

Preparation for the 2030 World Cup: Significant investments

Morocco is actively preparing to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, an event expected to attract even more tourists. Significant investments are planned in tourism and sports infrastructure: expansion of the high-speed train (LGV), development of commuter trains (RER) in major cities, enlargement of several airports, and construction of new stadiums. In the railway sector, an investment of €8.45 billion has been scheduled.

A hotel sector in full expansion

To accommodate the millions of fans expected during the World Cup, Morocco plans to build 187 new hotels by 2030, equivalent to at least 15,000 additional rooms. The country expects to host 3 million tourists during the competition.
