The tourism sector recorded, in January 2024, the arrival of over 992,000 tourists, marking a significant increase of 10% compared to the same month of the year 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy.

This performance affects both Moroccans residing abroad (+9.5%) and foreign tourists (+11%), confirming the dynamics and resilience of the sector, as reported by the ministry in a statement.

After a record year in 2023, with 14.5 million tourist arrivals and 105 billion dirhams in tourist revenue in foreign currency, tourism continues its ascent in the early 2024," highlights the same source.

The ministry explains that this dynamic and resilience were carefully built over the last two years, noting that coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, after two challenging years for the three sectors of tourism, crafts, and social and solidarity economy, the priorities were clear: resist, reactivate, and reinvent.
