Mali produced 72.2 tons of gold in 2022, of which 66.2 came from industrial mines.
In 2023, industrial gold production should reach 67.7 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.3%, according to the Malian Ministry of Mines, cited by Reuters.
This new estimate contradicts previous forecasts, which predicted a 3.5% drop in industrial gold production in 2023.
Gold mining in Mali is dominated by three major producers, Canada's Barrick Gold and B2Gold in Loulo-Gounkoto and Fekola, and Australia's Resolute Mining in Syama.
Britain's Hummingbird operates the Yanfolila gold mine, which is expected to produce more than 80,000 ounces in 2022.
