In recent years, the fruits of Sino-African cooperation in infrastructure have spread across the African continent. Numerous railway lines, roads, and other projects have been completed, promoting industrialization, modernization, and the integration process of Africa.
The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit will be an opportunity to observe the expansion of these projects that contribute to improving local economic and social development.
Held in Beijing from September 4 to 6, the event will highlight major initiatives such as the "Belt and Road," a railway line built by China and put into operation in 2017. The SGR extends from Africa’s largest port, Mombasa, to Suswa station, passing through the capital, Nairobi.
In the past seven years, the SGR Mombasa-Nairobi has created over 74,000 jobs in Kenya and trained more than 2,800 professionals.
The Kenyan government estimates that the SGR is boosting Kenya's GDP growth by 2%.
