Since its inception in Morocco in 2000, the TechnoPark network has become a thriving hub for startups.

Rabat – The Essaouira TechnoPark is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2023, offering a large area of 2,350m2 that can accommodate 40 startups and small and medium-sized businesses.

TechnoPark Management Company (MITC) announced in a statement on Tuesday, July 4, that Morocco's fifth TechnoPark will be established in Essaouira during the fourth quarter of 2023. This new addition to the national TechnoPark network follows the successful establishment of similar parks in Tangier, Casablanca and Agadir.

According to the press release, the development of this technology zone, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, was made possible thanks to a public-private partnership.

The commitment of the Moroccan Information Technology Company (MTIC), together with the support of various actors within the Essaouira ecosystem, including the Province, the Communal Council, the Provincial Committee for Human Development and the Al Omrane Company, also contributed to the completion of the project, the press release noted.

Lamiae Benmakhlouf, Director General of MITC, emphasized that the establishment of the TechnoPark in Essaouira aligns with the strategy of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform. This strategic move aims to develop a local support system that encourages innovation and benefits startups operating in the fields of digital technology, sustainable development, creative industries and remote entrepreneurship, Benmakhlouf explained.

The TechnoPark network has already become a thriving hub for startups. It currently houses more than 450 startups in permanent residence, and has created 1,500 direct and indirect jobs. Since its creation in 2000, the network has supported more than 3,500 startups in various fields, including digital technology, renewable energy, and the cultural and creative industries.

The upcoming TechnoPark in Essaouira is expected to further strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Morocco, providing an enabling environment for startups to thrive and contribute to the country's economic growth. With its focus on digital innovation and sustainability, the new TechnoPark is set to drive technological advancements and foster creativity in the region.
