Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially launched the construction of the Gada Special Economic Zone

Spanning over 24,000 hectares, the objective of the infrastructure is to provide urbanized land to investors to attract industrial and commercial projects, as well as foreign currency, while generating employment and accelerating industrial development.

"Our aim is to replicate the successes of our agricultural sector in the industrial realm, and the Gada Special Economic Zone serves as a vital platform to achieve this vision, thus unleashing the vast potential of our region and nation. With the creation and operation of the Lume free trade zone within the SEZ, it will become the second free trade zone after Dire Dawa, thereby expanding economic growth and development opportunities," stated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during the launch.

The Gada Special Economic Zone (GSEZ) will host 13 industrial zones, free trade zones, leisure centers, central business districts, scientific and technological centers, as well as commercial service parks and residential areas.
