Egypt recorded record tourism revenues in 2024, exceeding $14 billion during the first eleven months, representing a 7.8% increase compared to the previous year.

This figure marks a historic milestone for the tourism sector, a key driver of the national economy.

The number of visitors reached 14.3 million, with an increase of nearly 4%, while tourist overnight stays totaled 151.3 million, reflecting overall sector growth. Among foreign tourists, Saudi visitors stand out with spending close to $1.5 billion, or more than 75 billion Egyptian pounds.

The most prominent nationalities include Germans, Britons, Russians, and Saudis, with the latter making up 50% of the Arab visitors to Egypt. This influx illustrates the importance of the relations between Egypt and the Gulf countries in the growth of the tourism sector.

A promising dynamic

According to Sameh Saad, former advisor to the Ministry of Tourism, the sector has recorded a second consecutive year of positive growth in terms of visitors and overnight stays, confirming its key role in the national economy.

Tourism also contributed to a 3.5% economic growth in the first quarter of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, outperforming other sectors with an 8.2% progression. Experts estimate that this trend could continue, provided the regional geopolitical context stabilizes.

Thanks to its exceptional heritage and modernized infrastructure, Egypt is establishing itself as a must-visit destination for international travelers, solidifying its position on the global stage.
