The luxury tourism industry has not yet reached its full potential in Africa. Based on market studies in the luxury travel sector, Deloitte forecasts a compound annual growth rate of 7.6% until 2030, globally.
According to figures from the World Tourism Organization, international arrivals in Africa in 2023 reached 96% of pre-pandemic levels.
A performance that placed the continent above the global average, which stands at 88%.
Luxury tourism has also regained its strong pre-Covid results and continues to expand.
In Southern Africa, the sector is expected to even surpass its 2019 results by the end of this year, according to the travel agency Go Vacation Africa.
Mauritius and Morocco are other key players in the sector in Africa.
