Egypt has recorded record tourism revenues in 2024, exceeding 14 billion dollars in the first eleven months, representing a 7.8% increase compared to the previous year.
This data marks a historic turning point for the tourism sector, an essential driver of the national economy.
The number of visitors reached 14.3 million, with an increase of nearly 4%, while tourist overnight stays totaled 151.3 million, reflecting overall growth in the sector. Among foreign tourists, Saudi visitors stand out with expenditures close to 1.5 billion dollars, equivalent to over 75 billion Egyptian pounds.
The most represented nationalities include Germans, British, Russians, and Saudis, the latter accounting for 50% of Arab visitors to Egypt. This flow illustrates the importance of the relationships between Egypt and Gulf countries in the growth of the tourism sector.
A promising dynamic
According to Sameh Saad, former advisor to the Ministry of Tourism, the sector has recorded a second consecutive year of positive growth in terms of visitors and overnight stays, confirming its key role in the national economy.
Tourism has also contributed to an economic growth of 3.5% in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024/2025, outperforming other sectors with an increase of 8.2%. Experts estimate that the trend could continue, provided that the regional geopolitical context stabilizes.
Thanks to its exceptional heritage and modernized infrastructure, Egypt is establishing itself as a must-visit destination for international travelers, consolidating its place on the global stage.
