Ghana's outgoing president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has just launched the Ghanaian passport with an integrated chip in Accra.
Introduced by Ghana, the passport with an integrated chip represents cutting-edge technology designed to enhance document security, protect national identity, and comply with the strict standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

According to Akufo-Addo, the historic launch of the passport with an integrated chip is a moment that goes beyond technology or government policy.

Describing the new passport as a "statement of who we are and the journey we undertake as a people," Akufo-Addo stated that the electronic passport is not just a travel document, but a symbol of progress, resilience, and Ghana's determination to face the future with confidence.

The passport perfectly aligns with global systems, ensuring that Ghanaian travelers are recognized and treated with efficiency and respect at international airports equipped with modern biometric recognition technologies. It is not just a document; it is a symbol of our credibility and our global standing," he revealed.

Its design incorporates elements of cultural heritage, including Adinkra symbols such as "Fawohodie" (Freedom and Independence) and "Funtunfunefu Denkyemfunefu" (Democracy and Cooperation).
