Morocco has hosted its first video game fair in Rabat, an event that brought together developers, startups, and gaming enthusiasts.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the Morocco Gaming Expo aimed to energize the emerging gaming industry in the country. The event, divided into four main sections, provided an exhibition platform with over 70 exhibitors, startups, and game developers, as well as a series of conferences featuring 50 industry experts. 'Our goal is to familiarize the public with the potential of the electronic gaming sector and promote exchange and cooperation among local and international stakeholders,' said Nissrine Souissi, director of the Morocco Gaming Expo

One of the highlights was the presence of Takaya Imamura, a renowned independent developer and artist with 30 years of experience at Nintendo. Imamura generated excitement among fans by signing autographs and sharing his experience in Q&A sessions. 'It's impressive to see the enthusiasm and interest in the gaming industry in Morocco,' said Imamura. 'There is real potential here for innovation and creativity.

The event also served as an opportunity for investment firms to explore collaborations with local gaming startups. 'We are excited to explore partnership opportunities with the emerging players in the gaming industry in Morocco,' commented a representative from an investment firm present at the fair.

Furthermore, the Morocco Gaming Expo was the setting in which the Ministry announced the upcoming establishment of Rabat Gaming City, scheduled to open in September 2025. This project aims to bring together key players in the gaming industry and attract foreign investments to the country
