Today, the International Chemical Forum is an essential platform bringing together key players in the chemical industry to discuss the future of our sector. This year's topics, particularly the high-performance battery industry, are of vital importance in addressing global challenges and opportunities," stated Abed Chagar, President of the French Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry (FCP), at the opening of the II International Chemical Forum. He added that "the electric battery industry is booming, thanks to the growing demand for energy storage solutions to power various electronic devices, electric vehicles, and renewable energy storage systems

Organized by the French Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry (FCP), with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), the event attracted numerous political figures and business leaders.

Promising ambitions

In his opening speech, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, highlighted Morocco's ambition to become a leader in the high-performance battery industry. According to him, this sector comprises 1,600 companies, representing 17% of the industrial sector and 15% of industrial jobs, i.e., more than 220,000 direct and indirect jobs, thus contributing to inclusive economic growth

On her part, Laila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, emphasized Morocco's commitment to sustainable energy transition. "Our goal is to produce 52% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Achieving this goal will lay the foundation for a more flexible and resilient energy system," she stated

Signing of strategic alliances

The event was marked by the signing of several strategic alliances with national and international stakeholders, paving the way for the creation of an ecosystem dedicated to high-performance batteries in Morocco. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the FCP and the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), aimed at promoting technical, regulatory, and commercial exchanges between the two countries and developing promising partnerships in the field of high-performance batteries

Two other strategic agreements were signed: one between the FCP and Crédit Agricole du Maroc, and another between the FCP and the Morocco-China Friendship and Exchange Association (AAEMC). These agreements aim to strengthen cultural, economic, and industrial relations between Morocco and China.
