The government of Mali will expand its national fiber optic network. With a total cost of 117.3 million dollars, the project was recently approved in the Council of Ministers

The expansion covers the areas of Mopti, Koro, Timbuktu, Gao, Ansongo, and Labenzaga. The project is estimated to have a duration of 24 months. This should improve the quality and reduce the costs of Internet services in the targeted areas, as well as extend the reach of these services to thousands of additional people.

This investment is part of the digital transformation ambition of the Malian government, which aims to create an ecosystem conducive to the emergence of new businesses, the modernization of administration, and sustainable economic prosperity

Currently, the government is working on the development of a national policy for the digital economy for the period 2024-2028, aiming to strengthen the national telecommunications infrastructure
