Rabat – The German cable and wire manufacturer Helukabel has announced the opening of a subsidiary in Morocco, within the framework of the company's desire to strengthen its presence in Africa.

"In February, the electrical connection technology specialist opened a subsidiary in Morocco," the company said in a press release last week.

The company chose the Moroccan city of Casablanca to set up shop, stressing that this opening will help the company to be "closer to customers located in this dynamically growing market."

The General Director of Helukabel Portugal, Eduardo Soares, commented on the opening: “We have observed stable economic growth in Morocco, especially in the last two years.”

The company's press release said that support for Moroccan subsidiary Helukabel "will be provided by colleagues from Portugal, who have been active in the North African country since 2017."

Soares highlighted the potential of Morocco's engineering and renewable energy sectors. Morocco's renewable energy assets positioned the country among other leaders in the sector.

The consulting firm EY ranked Morocco 19th in the world in its renewable energy attractiveness index last year, which included many economic giants - such as the United States, China, Germany and the United Kingdom, among others. .

“That is why we decided to further expand our activities by establishing our new headquarters,” declared Soares, referring to Morocco's potential in renewable energy.

The new subsidiary aims to help the company "deepen" its knowledge of its customers' demands so that Helukabel can offer specific support and flexibility.

The one in Morocco is the second subsidiary of the German company in Africa.

Helukabel, which has 61 centers in 38 countries around the world, is also present in South Africa.
